Scottish North American Community Conference (SNACC)
COSCA are an organizing member of the Scottish North American Community Conference (SNACC). The conference, formerly known as the Scottish North American Leadership Conference, is an annual gathering dedicated to bringing together the Scottish diaspora, clan societies, and heritage organizations. Established by Chicago Scots and the American Scottish Foundation (ASF), the conference promotes collaboration, shared purpose, and forward-looking strategies, with 2025 marking its 23rd year.

Origin and Evolution:
For its first 17 years, the conference operated under the title Scottish North American Leadership Conference before transitioning to the Scottish North American Community Conference (SNACC) around 2020, reflecting a broader and more inclusive community focus.
Founding Partners:
SNACC was founded through a partnership between Chicago Scots and the American Scottish Foundation, with additional support from organizations including The Detroit St. Andrew’s Society, COSCA, CASSOC, and Scottish Studies at the University of Guelph.
Commitment to Collaboration:
The conference was created as a platform for Scottish organizations, clans, and affiliated groups to exchange ideas, share best practices, and strengthen the collective preservation and promotion of Scottish heritage across North America.
Contemporary Focus:
In recent years, SNACC has addressed key issues facing the Scottish American community, particularly generational change and the impact of technology. Themes such as “Connecting Hearts and Minds: The Way Forward” highlight an emphasis on youth engagement and future sustainability.
Location:
While often held in conjunction with other major Scottish cultural events, the conference has notably taken place in Alexandria, Virginia, including sessions hosted at The Lyceum.
The conference continues to serve as an important forum for networking and dialogue among Scottish societies, frequently featuring contributions from leading bodies such as the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs.
